· Participate in the Performance Company Showcase
· Attend 1 to 3 weekend conventions for continued education.
· Attend 2 to 4 regional weekend competitions.
· Attend one national competition every other year.
· Have the option to travel to New York City or Los Angeles for a
summer intensive study trip.
Convention Information Conventions provide an important opportunity for dancers to
continue and expand their dance education by learning many
different aspects of dance. Included would be the art of quick
study in learning choreography, rather than in a classroom
atmosphere where a dancer works technique and a routine for an
entire season, as well as having to adapt to several different
choreographers and unique styles.
Christmas
Performance
This show is an opportunity for Forest Dance Academy dancers who
desire an additional performance without the intensive time and
financial commitment of the competition Performance Company.
Although this is a requirement for Performance Company dancers the
Christmas show is open to all FDA dancers. The show consists of many
different types of dance from Ballet to Hip Hop, so all eligible
dancers are encouraged to participate. Call the studio for future
information and tickets.
FDA Performance Company Showcase The FDA Performance Company Showcase is presented in early
February. This is a great opportunity for the community and for
the dancers friends and family to see the dances for the
upcoming competition season. In addition to the FDA Performance
Company dances, guest artists are also invited to perform. Call the studio for future information and tickets.
Summer Intensive Study Trips The summer intensive study trip to either
New York City or Los
Angeles is an opportunity for dancers to take classes at dance
companies/studios, such as American Ballet Theatre, Steps on
Broadway, Broadway Dance Center and the EDGE Performing Arts
Center. This is an optional opportunity for FDA Performance
Company dancers. As an opportunity to expand their dance
horizons, the dancers will experience the arts within different
cultural environments. In addition to classes, those
participating in the weeklong event will attend professional
theatrical shows and sightsee. |
