Recital Newsletter

Please note the recital and rehearsal schedule order posted on the studio bulletin board
and on our website www.forestdanceacademy.com.  Be sure to check which show(s) your child dances in and let the front desk know of any conflicts or quick changes.

Spring Recital
The 2007 Spring Recital “Dancing Through Time” will be held in the Brookville High School Auditorium on Friday May 25th at 7:00PM and Saturday May 26th at 1:00PM and 7:00PM. Barestage rehearsal is on Sunday May 20th for all dancers and Dress Rehearsal is on Wednesday, May 23rd for all dancers. A dressing room coordinator will be in the cafeteria at Brookville to direct you to your dressing rooms at dress rehearsal and the three performances.

Ticket Sales
Ticket sales will begin on Saturday April 28th from 9:00AM-12:00PM. They will also be sold in the office Monday-Thursday 3:30-8:00PM, Friday 3:30-6:00PM, Saturday 10:00AM-12:00PM. Each student is guaranteed three tickets to purchase at $8.50 each plus one complimentary ticket. You may only purchase tickets if your account balance and May tuition are paid in full. All guaranteed and complimentary tickets will be held until 12:00PM on Saturday, May 19th. Those tickets (including the complimentary) not picked up will be sold as extras at the high school during barestage and dress rehearsal. For the past several years, performances have been sold out. There will be a waiting list for tickets at the studio office and you may place your name on this list for extra tickets needed. We will attempt to contact you twice before moving on to the next family. Also, if you find that you have purchased more tickets than you need please return them as soon as possible to accommodate those on the waiting list. We will do our best to fulfill your request. We ask that you purchase tickets for your child’s main performance only that include their core classes (ballet, tap, jazz lyrical, pointe). Note that tickets are non-refundable!

Attire
For barestage and dress rehearsal students need to be properly dressed in dance attire and wear their hair secured away from the face and/or in a bun. For the three performances students are to follow their costume checklists on how to wear their hair and what shoes and tights are required. If you have any questions check with the instructor for additional information.

Video Taping
We have permitted videotaping in the past at dress rehearsal; however with the performances being professionally recorded we are no longer allowing videotaping. This includes barestage, dress rehearsal, and all three performances. However parents may video tape their child’s dance at the end of their class the last week of classes. Photography is permitted, but please no flash photography as it is a danger to the dancers.

Dressing Rooms
All Students (unless otherwise notified) will report to the cafeteria on dress rehearsal and the three performances. Students must remain in the dressing room at all times during the recital. They may watch dress rehearsal as long as they are in the dressing room in time to line up for their dance. Please no costumes in the auditorium! No running, loud talking, or congregating in the hallways, lobby, and backstage area. Respect school property and do not handle any school equipment! Do not use the restrooms for make-up or costume changes; use your dressing room. If you must enter or leave the auditorium please do so in between dances. Monitors will stay with students in the cafeteria until the show has finished and a parent comes to pick them up. There will be a video monitor set up in the dressing room for the kids to watch the show. Moms are allowed in the dressing room at all times. NO dads, friends or boyfriends are permitted. Any mothers willing to help out in the dressing room would be greatly appreciated. There is a sign up sheet at the studio.

Volunteers
This year we are asking for a parent volunteer “dance mom” to be responsible for each class. We are in need of many volunteers to help out in the dressing rooms. We cannot do this without your help! Please let us know when you, a friend or relative would be willing to volunteer the time to be responsible for your dancer’s class until the end of the show. Please look for detailed information and a sign up sheet in the hallway for the list of positions to be filled.

Parents please help remind your child that there will be no gum, jewelry (except if instructed by the teacher as part of a costume) or nail polish worn. If you are going to take pictures of your child or class in their costume please do so before they are lined up to be taken backstage. A big thank you to all students and parents for your help, participation and cooperation during this busy and exciting recital week!
