2008 Spring Newsletter

PICTURES
Saturday, April 5th there will be professional photographers coming to the studio to take photos of all classes for the recital program. Individual packages will be available to purchase for those interested, this is optional, however we do encourage all dancers to participate in their class photo. Arrangements will be made for any classes whose costumes have not been received by picture day. Order forms will be available in advance at the studio. Photos will be handed out during class the week of May 19th – May 24th.

COSTUMES
Costume deposits were due November 1st and balances were due March 1st. Costumes will be distributed
March 15th – April 4th to those dancers whose costume accounts have been paid in full. Dancers with costume balances will not have a costume for picture day, however all dancers will be included in group photos. In the event a class costume does not arrive in time for pictures, alternate arrangements will be made.

SPRING BREAK
Spring break will be March 22nd – 30th. The studio will be closed that week and classes will resume on Monday, March 31st.

RECITAL (NEW SCHEDULE THIS YEAR!)
This year’s recital, “Cinderella”, will be held at E.C. Glass High School on Saturday, May 31st at 7:30PM and Sunday June 1st at 3:00PM. Dress rehearsal will be on Saturday, May 31st beginning at 10:00AM for all dancers. There will be an in studio dress rehearsal the last week of classes, May 19th – 24th, dancers will need to bring their costumes to classes that week and parents are welcome to videotape their dances.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to availability of the theatre there will be no Barestage rehearsal this year. Currently the theatre is not available for Friday, May 30th, however, if something should change understand that we will move dress rehearsal for all Tumble Tots, Creative Movement, Primary, and Elementary class dances to that Friday. A detailed schedule will be mailed to you this spring. We need your current mailing address if any changes have been made since registration. Due to the number of students and families we have performing we cannot guarantee that they will each perform all dances in the same show. Please note which show your child’s main performance is before your tickets are purchased. The last day of classes will be Saturday, May 24th.

RECITAL PROGRAM
We will be selling programs again this year at the spring recital, but they can also be pre-ordered. The program will include photos of each class as well as advertisements. Photos for individual ads will be taken on April 5th during picture day. A sample program is available for viewing at the studio. We would like to feature Forest Dance Academy’s graduating seniors please submit a senior photo to be included in the program. We encourage all dancers to pre-order their programs; order forms will be available at the studio.

PROGRAM ADS
Forms to purchase program ads (business or personal) will be available at the studio. Program ads that are not camera ready must be returned by Saturday, April 5th with any photos you would like included. Program ads that are camera ready, such as business cards or pre-done ads must be returned by Saturday, April 26th.

RECITAL TICKETS (**NEW POLICY THIS YEAR**)
Each student will receive one complimentary ticket. You may purchase an unlimited number of tickets at $10.00 each. Tickets may be pre-ordered up to April 26th, and then will go on sale Saturday, May 10th. You may purchase your tickets as long as your account balance and May tuition are paid in full. All complimentary tickets will be held until 12:00PM on Saturday, May 24th. We ask that you purchase tickets for your child’s main performance only. Note that tickets are non-refundable, and are on a first come first serve basis! Once again, dancers will not be permitted in the theatre during the performances they are dancing in, therefore do not need a ticket for their performance. They may attend a performance in which they do not perform, or they may view dress rehearsal. Thank you for respecting this rule as it helps to make our show more professional.

RECITAL DVD’s
A local professional videographer, Creative Teleproductions, will be recording both performances. Bruce Braun, who captured our Christmas show, “Christmas in the City” and did a great job, will be taping the recital. (You may view the Christmas DVD at the studio) These DVD’s will be available for you to purchase for $35.00 in advance or at the recital. We encourage all dancers to pre-order their DVDs; order forms will be available at the studio. Personal recording devices will not be permitted in the theatre during rehearsals or any performances. Thank you for your cooperation.

RECITAL ORDER FORM (**NEW THIS YEAR**)
For your convenience, there will be one recital pre-order form this year for the following items: Tickets, T-Shirts, Recital Programs, and DVDs. All pre-order forms must be turned in NO LATER than April 26th.

VOLUNTEERS (**New**)
This year we are asking for a parent volunteer “dance mom” to be responsible for each class. We are in need of many volunteers to help out in the dressing rooms. We cannot do this without your help! Please let us know when you will be willing to volunteer your time to be responsible for your dancer’s class until the end of the show. Please look for detailed information and a sign up sheet in the office for the list of positions to be filled.

RECITAL T-SHIRTS
“Cinderella” recital t-shirts with all students’ names listed will be available for sale. T-shirts must be pre-ordered and will not be available for purchase at the show; order forms will be available at the studio, and are due back NO LATER than Saturday, April 26th. T-shirts will be available for pick-up at the studio the week of May 19th – May 24th.

ATTENDANCE
As we approach our spring recital please be mindful of your commitment to good attendance in your dance classes. Please check with your school to make sure field trips don’t conflict with recital week as our dates are set and confirmed.

SPLITTERS CLUB
Those dancers, who have achieved their splits, right, left, and/or center, will receive recognition in the recital program and a keepsake as a reward for their efforts. We will be searching for splitters club members in all classes April 21st-26th. To be a part of this club you must hold your split all the way down for one minute without the use of your hands. There will be four levels “righties” “lefties” “middles” and “all star splitters”.

BRING A FRIEND TO DANCE WEEK
During the week of May 5th-10th we invite all of our dancers to share their dance experience and showoff their recital routines for one of their friends (no boyfriends please). Friends are encouraged to participate in the class, and loose clothing should be worn.
